We are convinced that Jesus Christ, who is God incarnate, is the only way of salvation--through faith in Him. We are convinced of this because it is plainly declared in the Bible--the inspired, flawless and trustworthy Word of God. Every Sunday (and throughout the week) we desire to drink in the Truth of the Bible and grow in our love and obedience to Jesus Christ.
We are passionate about connections and small group relationships. We love the friendships that develop between folks in our family! We are convinced that God's people grow best in the context of Christian relationships. Through all these connections, it is our goal to live out Jesus’ command to love God and each another.
Founded in 1844, PHC has a long and rich history of caring and bringing Jesus to the people of four counties in two states. We realize we are just a small part of God's overall plan for the ages, but we love the assurance in His Word that we are an important part!
From styles of music to variety in instruments, we do it all in Sunday morning worship service. They call it "blended worship" but we call it blessed! On any given Sunday we enjoy hymns, and modern praise songs; organ music and praise bands; we hear from choir and soloists; we are comprised of old folks and young folks. We have purposely avoided the two-service model for Sunday mornings because we love to worship together, blending all our different tastes into one Christ-honoring celebration!
Driven by our commitment to the commission of our Lord, tangible engagement in world missions has been characteristic of PHC since it was founded. In recent years, we have sent several groups out in short-term missionary work. Even in our own communities we are constantly seeking to reach our neighbors with the good news of new life in Jesus! Very simply, we pray, give and go until Jesus returns.
A purpose statement is like the headlights on a car. Headlights keep you out of the ditch at night, right? At Pleasant Hill Church we are committed to a single, Bible-based purpose that is carried out in five different ways. Our central aim is in the statement:
